Written by bestselling author Catherine Robertson, with illustrations by Fifi Colston, every copy sold will raise much-needed funds for the Hawke's Bay Foundation to assist in the Cyclone Gabrielle recovery effort.
A tale of chaos and courage, ruin and rescue, as Pearl’s home – like so many others – was ravaged by Cyclone Gabrielle.
Pearl loved doing all her favourite things: swatting the dog, slurping tap water, hiding in bags, and curling up to sleep. But one Monday night, with a whoosh and a whirl, her comfortable life was turned upside-down ...
Pearl’s family home in Puketapu, in Hawke's Bay, was destroyed by Cyclone Gabrielle and it took a week for her to be reunited with her family, as the community came together in the aftermath of one of New Zealand's worst weather events.

Bill Bush has a life story unlike any other All Black. A kina diver at primary school, a labourer at the Marsden Point refinery at 14, it took a promise of a Fanta and a pie to get him to play rugby, a sport he initially reckoned was too rough for him. The reluctant warrior became a fearsome, revered All Black prop, and captained and coached the M?ori All Blacks. His insights on rugby, and its place in New Zealand life, are unique. The journey Bill takes readers on is not all about playing rugby but explains his whakapapa (lineage), his upbringing, his beliefs, and hopefully demonstrates that there are other ways to get on in life and to be successful. Bill offers some simple life lessons: don't get trapped into seeing the grass as being greener on the other side of the fence. Stand tall and proud alongside others; enjoy the simple things in life along with your successes, however small they may be. Embrace the things you enjoy as a valued New Zealander by focusing on simple goals with honesty, hard work, and determination.

Venue:Canterbury Club
By invitation to Canterbury Club Members and Servicemen’s families.
Review of event
A “full house” of Club Members and Servicemen’s families listened to Peter explain the story of the writing of Desert War and his earlier book Good Luck To All The Lads. For many soldiers this was their first real experience of warfare. For the Allied commanders this was a tactical learning experience in the combined use of tanks, artillery and troops in what was often a fast changing theatre of operations. Peter at the same time told the story of his father, Sergeant Brian Cox and men like him who fought in the North African deserts against the German and Italian forces in WWII. Maps and photos were projected to provide the background to an engrossing presentation by Peter Cox. These maps and photos are a valuable feature of the book itself, (often overlooked in similar histories).
Autographed copies are in limited supply at Piccadilly Books.

The career of Robbie Deans is without parallel in the annals of New Zealand rugby. He was an All Black, the pin-up boy of the Canterbury team, and a rebel with the Cavaliers during a 12-year playing career. Even greater acclaim has followed as one of the best coaches of the modern era. From the opening accounts, which are provided by All Black Dan Carter and Wallaby David Pocock, the story is told by those who know Robbie best. It is a fascinating story of a truly great era in rugby, with detailed and frank observations at almost every turn from the players, coaches, and administrators he was most closely associated with. They know the real Robbie.
QUAKE CATS
Heartwarming cat stories from the Christchurch earthquakes, with beautiful photographs illustrating each story. A collection of stories about Christchurch cats and the earthquakes – true tales of heroism, odd and quirky stories, funny stories, sad stories – stories that will surprise you, make you chuckle or make you go awwww. There's Chippy who was found living in an abandoned fish and chip shop in the heart of the Red Zone, eating the old oil, and covered in it. There are the lions and cheetahs of Orana Wildlife Park, who were clearly very disturbed when the huge earthquake struck and the fences banged together, making a fearful sound. The staff were relieved that the power stayed on, keeping the electric fences working so the animals didn't escape. There's Max, who wandered about the suburb and found himself a new, loving family; Meisha, who was giving birth when the earthquake struck, and whose owners had to coax her to carry on; inspiring stories of cats who were lost but then reunited with their owners; and stories of the many narrow escapes of miraculous cats with nine lives. There's a lot of love in this book – cat lovers are a dedicated and passionate breed. And Craig Bullock's excellent photographs depict this love beautifully; the images are stunning. Part of the proceeds from this book help support Christchurch cat charities which work tirelessly to rehome cats that have become separated from their owners.
The Silent Division
The book is in three parts. Part One: a re-issue, unaltered, of the acclaimed The Silent Division - New Zealanders at the Front 1914 - 1919, first published in 1935, but now including maps and illustrations. Part Two: issued for the first time; that part of Ormond Burton's hitherto unpublished autobiography which deals with his heroic, front-line service in The Great War, entitled Concerning One Man's War, 1914-1918. This is a vibrant account at an individual level; arguably the finest writing by a New Zealander about that war. Edited by John H Gray, an acknowledge historian and published author, specialising on the The New Zealand Division in the Western Front. Part Three: a brief biography of the author by, David Grant, author, historian and lecturer Victoria Universit
